Why do young people turn to get thier hair dyed during Songkran Festival? Why Songkran Festival?

I have been thinking about this for 2 days since Songkran Day has come. A lot of young people, kids and teenagers, have changed their hair color, and I don't understand why this happen only for Songkran. Is there any source of this thing? Does it make them have more fun? Whatsoever, I never get mine dyed for this festival, so I don't really have an idea for that. Or.... they just imitate foreign visitors to Thailand in Songkran Festival?

Because Songkran festival is held at the time which is their semester break.
They are free to do something like this and doing hair dyed seems to be fun for them.
I am the one who use to do like this, it is quite short time to do what I want.
It can be the value among the teenagers as well.

I think it's because Songkran festival is held during long vacation which they don't have to go to school, so they can do it without being punished by the teacher. And it's also all about trend among the teenagers. They just do what they think it's cool.

I think it is not about Songkran day but it is about the long summer break.

Because they are forced not to get their hair dyed when they are in school.
It makes them suppress and tend to do something against the rule.
So, Songran is the most proper opportunity for them to do that.
