Which one is good for you between flat pillows and thick pillows?

When I was young, I liked sleeping without any pillows. My grandmother told and forced me to change the style of sleeping, so I had to practice to sleep on pillow for 4 months. It was very hard for me. At that time, I didn't want a night because sleeping on pillow made me uncomfortable and sad. Was it strange? lol However, I sleep on flat pillow nowadays. It's suitable and good for me. I used to try to sleep on a thick pillow, but it couldn't be successful. Besides, I had a backache and a headache.
